| Turkish jewelry artist Gurhan Orhan is a self-taught goldsmith. By replicating archaic bone and wood tools, he is able to recreate the texture that he loves in primeval Turkish, Byzantine and Anatolian jewelry. Gurhan believes in the power of stones, and their unique purpose. He travels to exotic beaches and markets gathering sand and gemstones. While 24 karat pure gold has been considered too soft for jewelry making, Gurhan’s ancient hand-working technique hardens the metal, creating the strength to hold stones and durability to last through the years. |
